About Hubs

Trans Europe Halles has introduced "Hubs" as specialized, thematic, or region-based working groups. Each Hub comprises 10-20 member centers, forming smaller networks that actively contribute to and draw benefits from the larger TEH network.

Hubs’ role in TEH’s Growth and Learning

Aligned with TEH's Learning and Growth strategic objectives, the Hubs serve as beacons and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the TEH membership. Therefore, they are actively encouraged to share and transfer their knowledge, enlightening the membership on their respective topics or regions. This collaborative spirit extends to the exchange of lessons learned, whether through gatherings of all regional hubs, thematic hubs, or a combination of both. This facilitates the sharing of solutions discovered by one hub and the avoidance of challenges experienced by another, fostering a collective journey of growth and learning.

Getting started

Abbreviation:

Initiating a Hub:

To establish a Hub, a minimum of 10 TEH members is required. Initiators must submit a request to the Strategic Development Director in the Coordination Office (contacts in Appendix A), outlining the hub's objectives, the names and contacts of the starting members, and the selected coordinators (COCES). Approval is contingent upon several factors: the network's need for such a hub, alignment with TEH's strategic objectives, meeting minimal requirements, and ensuring the new hub does not compete with or weaken an existing hub in the network.

Joining a Hub:

TEH members (full or associate) can join a Hub by submitting a written request to the Hub Coordinators (COCES), who then present the application to the rest of the Hub members and the contact person in the coordination office (COCO). Unless there is a valid justification, the Hub should accept the application. Non-TEH members can join a Regional Hub only through a nomination by two current Hub members, introducing the application to the rest of the Hub members and the contact person in the coordination office. Unless there is a rejection, the Hub accepts the application.

Financing a Hub:

In the TEH Network grant (Jan 2022 - End of Year 2024), financial support is provided to three hubs: the Sustainable Buildings Hub, the Mediterranean Hub, and the Youth Hub. Other hubs still require support, and the coordination office plans to raise funds for them. Financial support for the mentioned hubs includes a €2000 (including VAT) per hub per year remuneration for one or two COCES. Additionally, travel and accommodation expenses for some hub members attending Hub Meetings, most of which coincide with TEH annual meetings, are covered.

Funds for all hubs are pending availability, contingent on the success of fundraising efforts and their associated projects. This factor will also be considered in the new grant application.
